The Friends of Montauk Downs (FOMD) wish to thank you. Your membership, tournament and Gala participation, or in-kind donations keep our organization alive. FOMD's efforts are aimed at keeping Montauk Downs a world-class tournament venue. Your involvement, keeps the NYS Parks Department interested in the continued upgrade of the Montauk Downs golf course and facilities.
The renovation projects started in 2006 on the par 3's, are complete, with new irrigation,
bunker restoration and drainage on the 8th, 2nd,
and 14th holes. The 2nd hole also has new
back-tees, adding 13 yards length. Renovations on the Par 3, 12th hole are in progress and include re-bunkering, greenside extension, and widening of the back tee box which will add length to the hole.
The renovation of the 6th hole is nearing completion. The 6th
hole, was an extensive project, and includes longer back tees, which
will accentuate the dog-leg left, renovation of green-side bunkers,
and the conversion of the right green-side bunker to a step-bunker. A
new right-side fairway bunker, 120 yards from the green, will enhance
risk reward features of this hole. The 18th hole has been
lengthened, adding 25 yards, via a new back tee box. The green-side
bunkers and drainage have been modified. Fairway bunker upgrades,
will commence shortly.
Your support accelerates
and expands the scope of improvements. The Friends of Montauk Downs
and NYS Parks Department (NYSPD) unique partnership, keeps Montauk
Downs a world class venue accessible by the general public like it's
sister course Bethpage Black. The more capital FOMD raise, the more
the State responds with financial and other critical resources. In
2006, we raised almost $200,000, including a generous $50,000 from
NYS Parks Department. In-kind donations have expanded the scope of
improvement further. Notable among these projects, are the new signs,
which can be seen on every hole, compliments of Dave Brown,
President, of North Shore Neon. The construction of the beautiful
stone wall bordering the 3rd green, donated by Robert
Padden, President of Everything Stone. Construction material for the
wall was donated by Tomasulo Masonry Supply. The construction of the
bridge-walkway over the creek approaching the 13th green, the
stairway and retaining wall bordering the 14th tee box
were donated by Frank Bistrian. Diane Sheridan, President of Sheridan
Design, efforts are invaluable. Without Diane’s expertise, and
talent, many of our plans, would not exist. Diane is our “brand
steward”, she ensures our design and message has commonality. We
have proposals for future in-kind donations, including a lightning
shelter, a stone starter shack, signage for the driving range and
stairs from the new cart path to the tees on the 12th
hole.
As you know, world-class
golf courses are constantly evolving, raising the bar with each
modification, and passing year. That is why we need your
continuing support through tax deductible contributions and
participation in our competitive and festive events.

night you and your guest will enjoy! Weekend tournament events
include May 12, June 23, July 14, September 15, and October 13th.
